Using a Presentation Remote
If you like to move around the room while teaching instead of standing next to your iPad, BlackboardView supports standard presentation remotes (often called “clickers”) — the kind of small handheld device with forward and back buttons, commonly used with PowerPoint or Keynote presentations.
What Kind of Remote Works
BlackboardView works with presentation remotes that connect to your iPad via Bluetooth and act like a keyboard’s arrow keys or page keys — this covers most clickers sold for presentations (for example, remotes from brands like Logitech or Satechi). If your remote is advertised as working with PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slides on an iPad, it will very likely work with BlackboardView too.
Setting Up Your Remote
- Put your remote in pairing mode (check your remote’s manual — this is usually a button you hold down until a light blinks).
- On your iPad, open Settings > Bluetooth.
- Find your remote in the list of devices and tap to connect.
- Once connected, open BlackboardView and start a teaching session — no additional setup is needed inside the app itself.
How to Use It While Teaching

Simply press the corresponding button on your remote while a teaching session is active, and BlackboardView will advance or go back a card — updating both your iPad and the projected screen at the same time.
A Note on Remote “Modes”
Some presentation remotes have a small switch or mode button on the back (often labeled for different presentation apps, or “PPT” / “Media” / “Mouse”, etc.). Make sure your remote is set to its standard presentation mode (the mode that sends arrow key or page key presses) rather than a mouse-pointer mode.
